Love is patient – John Ventura

Hi JCC Youth ^_^. So this month has definitely been pretty exciting and interesting in that our title is called “Bringing Sexy Back” and our subjects are more on the dicey side. The more I hear about topics on dating and relationships the more I think about how bigger the words like patience, waiting, and timing really are. As I was praying to God what to say on these matters, I was driven to go to the bible and see what God has to say about these things.

(1 Corinthians 13:4) Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant.

So this chapter of Corinthians is known as the “Love Chapter” and you should REALLY study and read through it sometime because it has so much to it. For the sake of time and attention spans, I highlighted three words I wanted to focus on. “Love is patient“. So this sounds simple, it might sound easy, could sound impossible if you think too hard on it, it could sound religious, or even monk-like. Overall, it is in the bible and it is true. That’s already a hard pill to swallow but look, God is an all knowing and all powerful being that decided to give us life and enjoy this life and gave us tools, instructions, directions, feelings, emotions, and, mostly, Himself to fully live it. He did not throw us into the dark and hope we find our way home. So the more I seek Him the more I realize that being patient is actually building my trust on Him, His word, and His promises. When the Bible says things like “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33), God is actually telling us that we are going to be more than taken care of when we allow Him to love us. That is an awesome truth. Here’s another one; “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4). This passage has so much allure, strength, promise, and a heavy price that it carries. Simply put though, be with God and your heart will be filled. The focus is not about you but about God. As hard as that sounds it actually is comforting once understood. Its on God to take care of us and to fulfill us. Our role is to trust Him, love Him, and love others.

I am praying for you guys, that you become closer to God and that you get “the desires of your heart”.
